Gone are the days of Kraughtrock with the likes of Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, and Cluster, but Germany remains a fertile hot bed for some of the finest intelligent electronic music. Some of Canada's strongest electronic musicians such as Richie Hawtin, and Scott Montieth have relocated to Germany just to be immersed this sonic creativity.

Kompakt is a label that does an excellent job squeezing out as much electronic juice as possible out of these minds. This year marks the 10th Edition of their Total series. Each release contains a collection of essential tunes from the labels catalog. A personal favorite in the series is Total 4.
